Hair care through Pakistan's seasons: summer, monsoon and winter

How to adjust your hair care routine for Pakistan's hot summers, humid monsoon and dry, smoggy winters, with simple oiling and washing tips for each season.

By the Saba Naturals team. Updated . 5 min read.

Pakistan's weather changes a lot through the year, and your hair notices. The same routine that works in January can leave hair limp in July or frizzy in August. Here's how to adjust.

Summer (May to July): sweat, sun and dust

Long, hot days mean more sweat on the scalp and more dust in the hair.

  • Wash more often. Daily or every other day is fine with a gentle shampoo like PureRoots Herbal Shampoo.
  • Oil at night, wash in the morning. Don't go out in the heat with oiled hair. It collects dust.
  • Cover up. A dupatta, scarf or cap protects hair from strong afternoon sun.
  • Use less oil. A lighter amount is easier to wash out and won't feel heavy in the heat.

Monsoon (July to September): humidity and frizz

Humid air makes many people's hair puffy and frizzy, and a damp scalp can feel itchy.

  • Dry your scalp properly. Don't tie up or cover damp hair for hours.
  • Oil the lengths. A little oil on the ends helps control frizz.
  • Wash after getting caught in the rain. Rainwater in cities picks up dust and pollution.

Winter (November to February): dryness and smog

Cold air and heaters dry hair out, and in Punjab, smog adds a layer of pollution.

  • Oil twice a week. Winter is when hair benefits most from regular oiling. Our hair oiling guide shows how.
  • Avoid very hot water. It's tempting in winter, but it dries the scalp. Use lukewarm water.
  • Still wash regularly. Smog particles settle in hair. Don't skip washing just because it's cold.
  • Dry hair before going out. Wet hair in cold wind gets rough and tangles easily.

All year round

  • Oil once or twice a week with a herbal hair oil such as PureRoots Herbal Hair Oil.
  • Use a gentle shampoo that doesn't strip your hair.
  • Comb with a wide-tooth comb and be gentle with wet hair.
  • Eat well and drink enough water, especially in summer.

Small changes with the seasons keep hair softer and easier to manage all year.
